Below you can read a few words from Aze Peeters which recently completed my Short-Term Scientific Mission at Historic England (Fort Cumberland, Portsmouth), hosted by Dr. Zoe Hazell.
„During the visit, I had the opportunity to work with experimental charcoal material, explore advanced analytical techniques such as SEM and FTIR, and exchange knowledge with Zoe in anthracology and archaeobotany. The STSM strengthened my methodological skills and provided valuable insights that I will directly apply in my PhD research on archaeological charcoal from the Low Countries. Beyond the scientific training, it was a wonderful opportunity to build new international collaborations and experience how archaeological research is carried out in the UK. I am very grateful to Zoe Hazell and the Historic England team for their warm welcome and inspiring discussions.”
