Short Term Scientific Mission Report Aleksandra Fostikov

Aleksandra Fostikov spent a week in Prague from September 8 to 14, 2024, for a research project under COST Action CA22155 – Network for Forest By-products (EU-PoTaRCh). Her research focused on comparing the production and use of charcoal and ash in medieval metallurgy and the glass industry.

The host in Prague was Jiří Woitsch, Director of the Institute of Ethnology at the Czech Academy of Sciences.

During the stay, Alexandra had the chance to explore the libraries of the Institute of Ethnology and the Center for Medieval Studies in Prague. She also took part in a fascinating field trip to the Chejkov-Trsov site (a mining region near Pelhřimov), led by Professor Petr Hrubý from Masaryk University, Brno.
