Anna Varga, our Leader of WG4, has received 2-years postdoc grant, Horizon-Widera Fellowship (MSCA widening grant).

Hosted by Péter Szabó, our Co-Leader of WG4, Czech Science Academy in Brno. 

Secondment place hosted by Giocomo Bonan at the University of Turin.  

The title of the project:

Hidden in the forest: environmental history and ecological knowledge of charcoal burning since 19th century in Central and Eastern Europe

The main three specific Scientific objectives the project: 

1: study the vegetation and its changes in active and abandoned charcoal kilns. 

2: examine the connections between people and charcoal burning kiln, highlighting the role and perspectives of women and children. 

3: explore the traditional ecological knowledge of charcoal burners

The main field sites will be in Hungary and in Romania (Transylvania, Hargita county, village Lupeni, and surrounding region).
